What are the basic foundations for a productive life ?

We need to ensure we have the basic foundations for in place for a productive life before focusing on anything else. I was recently listening to a podcast where the ‘expert’ simply outlined that he would not begin to coach someone unless they had the basic foundations in place. In this case they were talking about sleeping, eating and exercising well.

But it is obvious right? Get the foundations in place first. You would not try and build a house without digging down and putting the right foundations in place, so why do we embark on our quests to be ‘fruitful’ and often ignore or overlook these?

Granted, we need to remember that everyone faces different life challenges and environments, so there will be distinctive foundations for each of us. Yet they still need to be put in place and regularly tended to.

Over the last 2-3 years I have intentionally been working on these foundations. Sleep was first (see 4), exercise is my current focus. Having chronic fatigue does not make it easy, the steps are very small, but the resulting progress I have made focusing on these simple foundation areas has been encouraging.
